Antique Billiard/Pool Balls – Cue & 15 Balls Vintage Compo-Ivory
$1,200.00
As shown on the cover of the box, this is described as “Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. Compo-Ivory Composition Pocket Balls”.
Description
This is an antique set, cue ball and balls 1-15. The box, I believe to be the original, is not in the best condition. The cover still shows some of the original advertisement which identifies this as made by Brunswick-Balke-Collendar Co.
Ebay is listing a similar set of composition balls, a poker ball set for around $2,000! Although I haven’t been able to date these composition balls they were first made in mid 19th century. It was in 1863 that a patent was issued for a type of billiard ball that would replace the Ivory Billiard balls previously used. The patent shows the use of Ivory dust and other materials to make the first “composition-Ivory” pool/billiard balls. Ref. The Billiard Encyclopedia p.236.
Asking $1200 OBO.
